1852 Braided Hair Large Cent, N-3, PCGS MS65RB CAC, choice.

Ex Barney Bluestone 6/1944, lot 662 – Dr. Ken Sartoris 5/1972 – Del Bland 2/1973 – R.E. Naftzger, Jr., Goldberg’s 9/2009, lot 1089 - Robert Kellert.

A flashy, mostly red cent whose luster and surface preservation easily qualify it for a gem grade. Flaws are hard to find, two tiny toning spots near stars 12 and 13 are probably the only thing to note if you want to be really picky. Both Noyes and Grellman graded this cent 65 and it’s tied for finest known in both census lists. MDS (b) and the dies are rotated 40 degrees CCW.
