1787 Immunis Columbia Copper, W-5680, unique Thin Planchet, PCGS AG03.

A fascinating and totally unique example of this important pre-federal type. Struck on an extremely thin but slightly broader than average planchet weighing only 70 grains. Perhaps struck over a lightweight British halfpenny, but no undertype is visible. Almost all of the few hundred known examples of this type come on very regular planchets weighing in the 140-150 grain range, with a handful known struck over New Jersey coppers which are broader but similar in weight. Nothing has been seen even remotely similar to the present piece, making this an exciting opportunity.
