1787 Fugio Copper, New Haven Restrike, Silver, Newman 104-FF, PCGS MS62, choice.

Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate - John J. Ford, Jr. Stack’s 10/14/2003, lot 318.

The rare and always popular silver striking, of which only 50 were said to have been made. This is a choice, lustrous example with appealing coin gray color and no marks or spots. Many of these silver examples (including many in mint state holders) show some degree of friction or rub, probably from being carried as pocket pieces. The piece offered here is better than most in that regard and rather conservatively graded by PCGS. It also has the added appeal of provenance and having been plated in the original Newman monograph.
