1787/8 Connecticut Copper, very rare Miller 15-R, R.7, NGC VF35, ex Hall-Newman.

Ex Dr. Thomas Hall - Virgil Brand - Brand Estate 5/17/1935 - B.G. Johnson - Eric P. Newman, Heritage 5/16/2014, lot 30095 - Twin Leaf Collection, Stack's Bowers 3/2019, lot 8157.

100.3 grains. One of the finest available examples of a significant Connecticut rarity. Combines two interesting dies - Miller obverse 15 with the CONNECT spelling in the legend, and Miller reverse R with the 7 of the date punched over an 8. No more than 10 examples are known and this is one the more desirable pieces in terms of grade and provenance. This coin brought $23,500 in the Newman sale in 2014 and the similar quality Ford example realized $34,500 in 2005. A surprisingly fortunate purchase at the recent Twin Leaf sale makes this available at a very attractive price. A great opportunity for the advanced Connecticut specialist.
