1785 Connecticut Copper, Bust Right, rare Miller 6.5-M, R.6, NGC VF25, ex Newman.

Ex Eric P. Newman, Heritage 5/16/2014, lot 30060 - Twin Leaf Collection, Stack's Bowers 3/4/2019, lot 8089.

132.7 grains. A distinctive and challenging variety in the Connecticut series, featuring the sole use of both of these dies. A solid R.6 rarity as evidenced by the paucity of auction appearances in recent decades, as well as the number of major collections that lacked the variety altogether. This pleasing example from the Newman collection has hard, glossy surfaces and lovely chocolate brown color. Some old, toned-over scrapes are seen crisscrossing each side but are not overly distracting. This piece would be difficult to improve upon.
